Intermission

Some pictures. Depending on flash and lighting, some colors may appear fancier than the real thing.

Ma chena bel Khairan? heh

Notice that there are no sheets, and no covers. Much more important stuff on my hands.

Since it's a two bedroom apartment, I decided to keep one for my 'stuff' and one for just sleeping in. The one with the all the stuff obviously needs some attention. By Sunday inshalla done with, nothing major.

I've got two of these.

Tekrimoon. The stupid sink drives me crazy every single time abi atwatha.

Something my sister and niseeby gave me. It was like a joke, you know a 'cheap' goodbye. It's no joke to me, I just look at it and feel right at home.

This is why I got the apartment in the first place. Didn't even look at any others.
The grey building is my University. Easy 5 minute walk. Probably 10 max to any building inside campus (given that I know my way around, which I don't just yet.)

Most importantly, my living room. This is how it looks like now.
SKY TV will be done by tomorrow inshalla. Notice the wireless modem. 8MB BABY, next week (on dialup now, talk about shyaab le yaab). Fuck that, aham shay el makhama. 3aaash Poundland heh.

It may look messy, but the sweet thing is it won't take me 5 minutes to make it all neat and tidy.

The apartment is not what I would say "raahya", and not what I would say "theej". Just the right size for me alone.

Location-wise, I can't be any luckier. You saw how close the University is. And just opposite my building, across the street is a mall. You basically enter the mall, and you're INSIDE the city centre itself. You can walk in-doors and be dropped right in the middle of the city centre 'strip' at the other end.

Only thing I wish was nearer was a Tesco or some co-op. I think there is a Tesco which is two train stations away, just a matter of getting off the train and across the street. But, I mean how hard is it to find bread/toast/eggs/tuna/lettuce/corn flakes/milk in one place? Pretty hard!

And mbh: I gave up on the washing machine man. My clothes smell like FLOWERS. A mix of flowers, and that baby powder thing. A fucking pampers commercial. You know the term "emsab7eta omma", that's what I smell like.
But not to worry, I got a dry cleaners just down the street.

  • As you said, it ain't small & ain't big, just to suit your *current* needs.

I know how you feel about these stinky sinks! Small & the water exit is just too close to the edge you can't wash your hands!

    Umm, I liked the T-Shirt idea. Maybe I'll fake a scolarship so that my family would give me one like that; assuming they care o_0;

The view looks great and it's good to find a place nearby.

Regarding that 8MB wifi modem you've got, I say dump it; You won't achieve max speed because of interferance (Microwaves, cordless, Bluetooth, ...etc.) plus wifi isn't secure and someone might use your connection.

So you smell like babies, aih? ^_^ how cute ;p
Dry cleaning wears out clothes... Stick to the washing machine; Train until you master it; Test with jogging-wares or so.

    Best of wishes dude.

  • I have one question, all of this mess, you created it to make it look funny in pictures? or are you really THAT messy?

    and congratulations :)

By Blogger Papillona ®, at 9.9.05

  • sarah i wasnt aware that the pics were funny, but no i didnt do it on purpose and its not as messy as it appears, for example the 2nd bedroom, the clothes on the bed are "classified", shirts together/tshirts together and so on

the living room isnt finished yet so thats why i have a lot of stuff on the shelf .. but ya ok maybe i am a little messy :/
    oh and thanks teslemeen

    By Blogger Temetwir, at 9.9.05

  • Cool! yullah I'm so excited about it, I dunno why lol

By Blogger Papillona ®, at 9.9.05

  • Congrats on finding that co-op!

About the WiFi, I advise you to reconsider that modem. WiFi are known with their unstability (interference) & insecurity.

If you enable WEP security, it can be easily cracked (I have the software for it).

If you try IP/Mac address filtering.. those can be spoofed/faked too, thus allowing access to your network.

Just take a good 'ol wired router and save yourself the hustle. Plus, some studies suggest that high concentration of microwaves may cause damage to the brain. They're not proven correct, yet, but why take the risk?

  • sarah :) qalya wel 6alab erkhees

mbh that was too technical for me, like i said, "stealing" my connection is a no problem, heck even hacking into my laptop isnt a problem as long as windows works hehe.. but yeah i definitely know where ur comin from and i appreciate it, cheers!

    By Blogger Temetwir, at 9.9.05

  • Hello! mabrook 3al new place, looks fine and dandy from the pics. Hope you're settling in just fine.

I had to reply regarding the wifi dilemma: mbh, nobody will bother to crack both WEP and mac address filtering just to get hold of an 8 mbit/s dsl which costs 10-15 kd a month. Not that you'd find people around here bored enough to actually do this for fun or some other reason.

    In any case, I recommend that you set up basic WEP security (to avoid the average joe neighbours hoarding your bandwidth) and enjoy the speeds you've never experienced before :}

    By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9.9.05

  • zeecu, true .. not so many people would bother; but that's where you make your first mistake .. underestimating the surrounding.

It may be little to you those 15 k.D., but it may not be to others.

Again, I distaste WiFi because of interference issues.

Temetwir, what're you gonna do with 8 Mb? Does the ISP allow you to use P2P software or BitTorrent?
In USA you could be sued, donno about the UK though.

    By Blogger MBH, at 9.9.05

  • LOL I loved that shirt it was so sweeeet :) And your place looks very cosy, not too small, not too big, just perfect. Yallah shid 7elik o allah ywafgik inshalla ;)

    By Blogger Peach, at 9.9.05

  • allah 3afeesaaaa =} 3alaik bel3afya, I love stuff like that =}

    By Blogger Spontaneousnessity, at 10.9.05

  • ajq who knows, maybe sometime we'll all get together if theres time ;)

zeecu alaw may'.. if WEP security is 'setting a password', then thats as far as ill go

mbh same price as the 2mb, so i thought what the hell.. and yeah its for torrents

peach the shirt is my fav. piece in the apartment.. o yewafig eljeme3 inshala

spontaneous u love that, that being 3afeesa?

    By Blogger Temetwir, at 10.9.05

  • mbh: full p2p services are allowed, and nobody will sue you unless you use the university's internet service to download illegal material (pirated movies and the such).

and when is 8 mbit/s a bad thing? I say immatwir should get the new ADSL2+ service (25 mbit/s) if it's available, and for the same low price.

Speaking of prices, 15 kd isn't alot in the UK. Over 70% of the UK's homes have broadband costing alot more than 15 kd, so no, nobody will steal the precious bandwidth if they can afford their own connection.

Last but not least, WiFi may use the 2.4 GHz frequency range, but I have yet to see any domestic appliances causing interference with home wlans. Even if this occurs, there are 11 channels to use within that range, and a person can never be that unlucky to experience interference issues with ALL of them.

Many people underestimate the importance of a barber shop!
